Accommodation

The house is a three bed roomed bungalow so good for people who are not so mobile. There is a path around the house with front and rear entrance, both having one door step into the house. Parking is within the grounds of the house and there is space for three  large vehicles. We have also built a shed near to the house for outdoor equipment, barbecue and picnic items etc..

The kitchen is modern and well equipped and catches the sun in the evening so a good place to eat. All the electrical equipment is new and functions well. Modern appliances in kitchen include, a cooker with electric hob and two ovens, microwave, fridge, freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher. We are aiming to create a home from home.

The living room is a typical croft house with an entrance from the kitchen and an exit to the hallway. It has a very large window and the room is always bright. It is possible to eat in the living room as well as the kitchen. There is a TV with DVD player, CD player and books and games available. There are information folders in the bookcase covering a wide variety of subjects and books and maps on the island. The maps do have a tendency to disappear so I know they are well used! Last but not least; there is Free Wi-Fi.

The open fire is very effective and a great place to sit in the evening.

The main bedroom faces south and also has a large window and great views. It has recently been decorated (2024) and the large mahogany bed has a new mattress.

The twin room also has a new carpet. There are cupboards for hanging clothes in two bedrooms and wardrobe in the double room. There are also other storage facilities in the rooms. All beds have electric blankets and linen is provided.

The other two bedrooms are towards the back of the house, both with single beds. One was re-decorated in 2026.

The bathroom is a typical croft house bathroom with a stand alone shower including hand rail. The bathroom has been renovated and modernised recently - see Gallery and Blog. The bathroom is suitable for a small wheelchair only.

There are two porches back and front and they provide storage for jackets and boots etc.

On a sunny day it is good to use the front door and sit outside in the sheltered seating area, where you can survey most of Carloway.

Take a walk down the croft (gate opposite the house) and see the old family blackhouse or go through the gate at the washing line to walk toward the coast and beach at Dalmore.
